Protectors of Red Bluff is a 60-by-8-foot aerosol-on-concrete mural honoring my great-uncles Pete, Raymond, and Gilbert Rivera, who fought to protect this land and its history.

Preserving the stories of East Austin's minority communities is central to my work. Through public art, I strive to honor these histories and ensure they are passed on to future generations.

The mural depicts the Rivera brothers against the backdrop of Red Bluff's tree-covered landscape. Ganado-inspired design elements reference my family's Indigenous roots, while the monarch butterfly symbolizes my family's history as migrant workers and pays tribute to my great-grandmother's favorite mariposa.

Rendered in rich earth tones, the brothers stand proud on their ancestral land, surrounded by nopales and native flora, embodying the resilience, heritage, and enduring spirit of East Austin.
